Theater: Cadillac Palace Theatre, Chicago Illinois
Dates: May 21, 2008 – June 07, 2008

There’s great news for theatre lovers living in or near Chicago. It’s even better news for people who will just be dropping in Chicago for a visit, whether on business or for pleasure. That news is about theatre and it regards the Tony award-winning show “Avenue Q”. After a successful run since 2003, showing on Broadway in New York, in the West End in London as well as several international tours, “Avenue Q” will finally be coming to Chicago in 2008.

This Broadway musical is a hilarious and original show that was inspired by the original “Sesame Street” characters. However, don’t be fooled! This is not a children’s show as it shows characters very similar to those of “Sesame Street” but in their adult forms. These adult characters come complete with the beloved New York lingo and slang and together are absorbed in facing the different problems adults usually struggle with in life. The name “Avenue Q” is actually the name of the neighborhood shared by the characters, where in the beginning of the show, we see that “Avenue Q” is the only neighborhood available that suits the very limited budget of the lead protagonist who goes by the name of “Princeton”. Fortunately though, “Avenue Q” turns out to be a quirky neighborhood full of fun and friendly characters that end up making the show irresistibly enjoyable.

The stage is shared by both puppets and puppeteers and allows the talented actors in this cast to shine while delivering the play’s witty songs and hilarious dialogue. The show’s theme is universally identifiable where it talks about the struggle of many adults – young and old – to find their “purpose” in life. This show has won critical acclaim and several Tony awards since the beginning of its run, including “Best Musical”.

“Avenue Q” will be coming to Chicago at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. It will be running from May 21st to June 7th for all Broadway musical lovers in Chicago to enjoy. The tickets are conveniently available online via many ticket-sale websites. Ticket prices range from $85-225 per person but you have to be sure to check the available dates and make a reservation well ahead of time.

Why miss this fantastic opportunity of enjoying one of Broadway’s best and most entertaining shows when it comes all the way to Chicago? Make your reservations as soon as possible, if you’re a theater lover looking for something new and prepare to be entertained in 2008.
